APPLICATION
The INT-6 and INT-9 are used in this application to monitor and record critical process parameters related to storm water runoff quality management. Storm water can pick up debris, chemicals, dirt, and other pollutants and flow into a storm sewer system or directly to a lake, stream, river, wetland, or coastal water. Anything that enters a storm sewer system is discharged untreated into the water bodies we use for swimming, fishing and providing drinking water.
Effective storm water management is an ongoing priority. Best storm water management practices recognize that simply conveying rainfall through pipes to surface waters is not effective. The adverse impacts include: downstream flooding, erosion of stream banks, discharge of excess sediment and pollution into streams. Degradation of streams is critical to aquatic life and wildlife, as well as personal health and welfare.
Storm water management practices include the installation of reliable chemical injection equipment, measures and procedures used to protect and improve water quality. The Walchem INT-6/INT-9 controller compliments any existing chemical feed equipment installation by providing remote monitoring, reliable data acquisition and remote alarming. The INT-6/INT-9 is used to monitor and record influent and effluent pH, final effluent turbidity and polymer residual. The INT-6/INT-9 is also used to monitor the settling basin or holding tank runoff level. If the final effluent is out of spec for any reason, the INT-6/INT-9 will inform the regulators of the out of compliance condition and corrective action can be taken immediately.
SOLUTION
Why our equipment was used. The INT-6/INT-9 provides the ability to remotely monitor the chemical feed equipment and manage the data acquisition and remote alarming of all critical process parameters, particularly related to the final effluent. The system will also monitor and alarm on polymer overfeed and underfeed conditions.
CONCLUSION
Significant Improvement. The Walchem INT-6 and INT-9 have greatly increased reliability, as well as client and regulator confidence in the overall system performance. Having the ability to acknowledge process alarms and plan the appropriate corrective action is a major benefit to storm water treatment managers. The INT-6/INT-9 has proven to be an extremely powerful piece of equipment and has played a big part in improving storm water quality overall.
WHERE TO FIND SIMILAR COMPANIES – SITUATIONS
Companies that specialize in construction storm water treatment and ground water treatment systems. Water treatment/waste water treatment companies that focus on this particular market segment. Contracting companies that provide retention pond and trench dewatering services would also be potential candidates.
