Chemical Inventory Management
Critical pre/post cleaning chemicals monitored remotely .
Customer | Remote Chemical Inventory Management-Dairy Industry
APPLICATION
The application is remote tank monitoring and chemical inventory management for the dairy industry. This particular customer services approximately seventy dairies in the western US. Each dairy uses between 4 to 6 chemicals so INT-9 is a perfect fit. It is critical that the dairies do not run out of the Pre and Post cleaning chemicals used to clean the cows prior to the milking process. Running out if these two main chemicals would be disastrous, as this would prevent the cleaning process from taking place resulting in the milk production going to waste. Each dairy can have as many as 10,000 cows, each cow is milked three times per day therefore a significant amount of chemical is used on a daily basis. Chemical level monitoring is critical.
Remotely monitoring the level of chemical stored within a bulk storage tank on a customer’s site improves customer service and allows supply chain management, reducing the need for the customer to monitor the level and then place an order. It also reduces errors in ordering and ensures there are no part loads or returned tankers and therefore reducing logistic and transportation costs. The INT-9 used in conjunction with ultrasonic level sensors ultimately ensures that the dairy will not run out of cleaning chemicals. With increased congestion on the roads the cost of delivering product in bulk is forever increasing and the need for the INT-9 remote monitoring technology becomes greater and greater.
SOLUTION
The INT-9 and associated level sensing equipment was selected as the best technology solution available to maintain and manage critical cleaning chemical inventory levels at each dairy. The INT-9 provides the user with accurate and immediate information, in real-time, providing instant fault reporting and diagnostics. The INT-9 system eliminates the need for physical inventory checking greatly reducing road time. Remote communications and auto reporting will help ensure more efficient bulk delivery scheduling as well as more efficient plant production scheduling. Tank level telemetry allows tanker routes to be planned more effectively and provides an option of having un-delivered product dropped at other customer sites on the return journey.
