Highway construction site required on-site ground water remediation after pyritic rock was exposed during construction. Water collected from the site after rain needed to be continuously monitored and treated to prevent fish kills in local streams.

The remediation system, which is spread out over an approximately 4-5 square mile area, required remote communications to monitor all aspects of the operation from multiple points. Multiple lift stations are utilized requiring level, lead/lag pump, pH and chemical feed control. INT-9 controllers were specified due to the remote communications capabilities, data collection and also for control of pH via either acid or caustic feed throughout the site. Additional PLC based systems were used in conjunction with the INT-9 units and tied in for remote data collection..

Remote communications capabilities, networking and data/alarm handling along with distributor’s ability to project turnkey system and onsite commissioning were key in the success of selling this account. In addition, the INT-9 controllers act as a SCADA type system.
